Bass & Lauren's naughty shower play [Part 3]
In a rather unforeseen twist of event, Eva is in the hospital after been beaten black and blue, and the culprit is world famous. What happens next for Bass?
I stood in the hallway with one hand in my pocket and the other firmly gripping my phone. This was one of those days I cursed my lack of anger.
I stood in the hallway with one hand in my pocket and the other firmly gripping my phone. This was one of those days I cursed my lack of anger.
Nothing seemed to get me over the edge. Right now I knew I should be livid with rage and probably racing over to Wole’s place. Wait sef, I didn’t know where the bastard lived. That was one, two I wasn’t even sure it was Wole who did this to her. But he had the motive, so?
I could bet he was the one but I just had to confirm first before doing anything stupid. I closed my eyes and counted to ten, was on seven when my phone beeped. I checked to see Bobo’s message come through with Shadow’s number.
Good boy. Part one was done, now part two was to confirm the target before making the call. I walked back into the room and just my luck that Eva was awake and holding Tolu’s hand. She turned to look at me as I walked in. She managed a smile but she and I knew I could read the pain behind that smile and the several other messages it was passing across.
I managed to keep a straight face as I walked towards her. I stood right by her side, then she dropped Tolu’s hand and grabbed mine. Squeezing lightly.
“Wole?” I asked
She nodded as slowly as she could as a tear rolled down her eyes. Now was not the time for me to be all emotional, I maintained my straight face.
“His address?” I asked.
I could see the hesitation in her eyes. And I knew why. She was torn between seeing how far I could go for her considering she had never seen me angry either and me actually putting someone in the grave. Thing is I am not planning to have the guy killed or anything, death is mercy. I had a whole lot of other things planned out.
In the end, Eva decided it was best I did what I had to do. She motioned to Tolu who had moved to a corner watching us. She asked for her phone. Tolu gave it to her and we both watched as Eva sat up in pain. None of us moved to help her. She didn’t need us, she needed to feel the pain to remind her how low her life had just gotten. She scrolled around her phone for a while before handing it to me. There was Wole’s home address. I copied and texted it to my own phone before handing her back her phone. Then I bent over to kiss her forehead and whispered.
“You will be fine” And it was my turn to squeeze her hand as I left.
I didn’t look back, I had managed to keep my emotions in check all through. This was not the time to lose it. I waited till I was out of the hospital and on the road before pulling out my phone and placing the call.
“Baba, how far. Na your boy o” I introduced myself as I heard the hello from the other side.
“Who?” came the gentle voice. The voice that was quite deceptive. You never knew what lay beneath.
“Olumide Bass” I gave out the full name so he could at least pick one and recognize, and thankfully he did.
“Ah brain, how far” He just called me my old nickname before the whole Bass thingy came into being.
“I gentle o, baba. How everything?” I continued being respectful.
“E bam, wetin dey?”
“Baba, abeg I need your help” I narrated the little I could over the phone.
He understood everything couldn’t be finished on phone and asked me to come see him. He was in ikeja at the moment. Some distance off but was going to be well worth it, I knew it. I hung up and this time I called a cab. I needed to gather my thoughts. After haggling price with the driver, I got in. Once I sat down, I switched off my phone’s mobile data.
I have never done anything like this in my life, going to bust a guy. Many chances over the years, some ever very personal but I had never taken one step or made a move. So why was I doing this one?
Was Eva much more to me than I knew? Or did I know but just didn’t wanna admit it to myself? I remembered Lauren. Then I got my phone again and texted her, asking how her day was going so far. And turned to stare at the road as I got driven to my destination.
A little over thirty minutes later and I was getting off right in front of ICM. No, I wasn’t going into the mall. Shadow had described out a bar to me that was right on the adjoining street.
It was there I marched to and found him sitting with a guy having a bottle of malt right in front of him which seemed a little ironic to me.
“Ha, Brain. Long time o, this guy! Where you dey tall go?” He stood up to welcome me and shook my head. I bowed a little in respect, was an involuntary action. I always gave him that respect even if he often didn’t want it especially from me.
“Baba, me sef no know o” I smiled as I looked him over. He was still the lean tall fellow I had gotten introduced to years ago. He was just like me but he had beards and well he was more handsome plus his name carried some weight. I also shook the guy seated with him.
“This guy na our brain box o when we dey that jungle. Na him take care of all my final year papers” He said to the guy. Sad truth but my mercenary days were over.
“Baba, we just dey manage am then” I laughed and took up one of the two vacant seats.
“So wetin you go drink, make them bring you something”. Shadow asked.
“Ha Baba, nothing, I dey full as I dey like this. You know the life na”.
“You never change at all” It was his turn to laugh. The other guy didn’t laugh all through just kept giving some uneasy smile.
“Baba, na life matter”
“Ok feel free to talk. Na my person be this” With that assurance, I told him everything about Eva, Wole and his brother. The pregnancy and the abortion. He didn’t say a word all through the narration just for some occasional nods. And when I was done.
“Omo that your friend get mind o, dey fuck two brothers at the same time” Now the other guy finally spoke up.
“You know say girls no well” Shadow added before sighing then faced me with a straight face.
“Now wetin you want make I do for you”.
I thought twice before answering. Was I really ready for this? Damn yes!
“Baba, I want make we go bust this guy for house, treat him fuck up”.
“You wan make we go forget bullet inside am?” He asked just to be sure.
“No, death is mercy” I repeated my one of my favorite line.
“True, true. I dey talk am say you no be jew. You just dey deceive yourself” Shadow said as he patted me on the back. I just laughed, this wasn’t the first invitation I had gotten.
“But bad thing na bad thing. No guy should ever hit a lady, more or less rape her. Na sin of the highest order be that. Left to me, I for like put the guy inside coffin today but na you get the call. And you don’t want that so I am not going to argue” He continued.
I nodded in appreciation.
“This is Obinna, he go arrange una movement. I for go with you and all but one pending parole don need my attention” He motioned at the guy seated with us then he stood up.
“Brain, no fear. Anything you need, just tell Obinna. Una go sort the guy today”
“Thank you, baba. I really appreciate am” I stood up and shook his hand.
“Na small thing. You na sure G na. I gast move now” He nodded at me and I nodded back at him. Then he left. I smiled and then sat down back.
“When make we move?” Obinna said as soon as I was seated.
I just smiled at him.
